Many vaccines for COVID-19 are in different phases of development, and some of them are approved too for use. The vaccination process has started in Nepal as well. Here, you will find information about the types of vaccines available in Nepal.

Sadly, coronavirus has been a disaster for the world. On the other hand, many countries are developing vaccines and preventive medicines for COVID-19. We hope these vaccines and medications will help to control this COVID-19 pandemic.
Currently, vaccines are in different stages of development all over the world. Some are in the clinical phase and some are approved for trials and limited use. Many countries are giving approvals for using some vaccines, and some are approved for emergency use.
At present, Nepal is suffering from the second wave of the COVID-19. The new variant of COVID-19 has affected the whole country. As a result, there is a nationwide lockdown to break the chain of Coronavirus cases. As well as that, Nepal is also running a vaccination campaign to immunize people against COVID-19.
Available COVID-19 Vaccine in Nepal
SARS-CoV-2 VACCINE (VERO CELL) INACTIVATED
Nepal government has granted permission for the Emergency Use Authorization of COVID-19 Vaccine (VERO CELL), INACTIVATED vaccine. It is manufactured by Beijing Institute of Biological Products Co., Ltd. (BIBP), China under Sinopharm against COVID-19 in Nepal as per the departmental decision dated 16th Feb 2021.
Nepal Government is using this vaccine to vaccinate people of the age group 18 to 69 years.

Another vaccine that is available in Nepal is Whole Virion Inactivated Corona Virus Vaccine, (BBV152) COVAXINTM vaccine from India. Nepal has vaccinated the first-line workers, health workers, security personnel, parliamentarians, and people age 65 and above with this vaccine.
Nepal government has granted permission for Emergency Use Authorization of Whole-Virion inactivated SARS-CoV-2 Vaccine (BBV152) (COVAXINTM) vaccine. It is manufactured by Bharat Biotech International Limited, Hyderabad, Telangana, India, against COVID-19 in Nepal as per the departmental decision dated 19th Mar 2021.

SPUTNIK V | COVID-19 Vaccine in Nepal (Available Soon)
Sputnik V vaccine is not in use in Nepal right now. Nepal’s government has already approved it on 20th April 2021. According to the Ministry of Health and Population Nepal, the Nepal government has granted permission for Emergency Use Authorization of Gam-COVID-Vac Combination vector vaccine (Sputnik V) from Russia.
Gamaleya National Research Center of Epidemiology and Microbiology of the Ministry of Health, Russia has developed this vaccine under production unit JSC GENERIUM.
